Associate Director – Building Surveying\n\nOverview\n\nAn ambitious and commercially minded Associate Director – Building Surveying is sought to join a growing team. This senior position offers the opportunity to lead high-profile projects, work with a prestigious client base, and play a key role in the strategic growth of the business.\n\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent client-facing skills, and the confidence to lead complex instructions from inception through to completion. This role is well suited to an experienced Building Surveyor looking to take the next step in a leadership career within a dynamic environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProject Leadership\n\nLead project management and contract administration for major workspace fit-outs, refurbishments, and capital works (typically £50K–£20M).\n\nManage full project lifecycles, including feasibility, design coordination, specification writing, procurement, contract oversight, and delivery.\n\nOversee compliance, programme management, risk control, and quality assurance across multiple concurrent projects.\n\nProfessional Building Surveying\n\nDeliver a broad range of commercial building surveying services, including Acquisition Surveys, Schedules of Condition, and Project Monitoring.\n\nPrepare and negotiate Schedules of Dilapidations on behalf of landlords and tenants.\n\nUndertake building defect analysis and provide practical, solution-focused recommendations.\n\nClient Management & Advisory\n\nAct as a trusted advisor to corporate occupiers, SMEs, private equity investors, and landlords.\n\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships through clear, commercially sound, and technically robust advice.\n\nRepresent the business at key project meetings, pitches, and strategic discussions.\n\nBusiness Development & Leadership\n\nContribute to business growth through networking, pitching, PR activity, and securing new instructions.\n\nSupport senior leadership in shaping service lines, market positioning, and overall business strategy.\n\nMentor junior surveyors and promote high professional standards across the team.\n\nAbout You\n\nMRICS qualified Building Surveyor with significant post-qualification experience.\n\nProven track record delivering complex projects and professional surveying instructions.\n\nStrong commercial awareness with excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple instructions simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.\n\nConfident client-facing professional with the credibility to represent the business externally.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\nOpportunity to lead high-profile projects across a diverse and prestigious client base.\n\nCollaborative and forward-thinking team environment.\n\nHigh degree of autonomy and involvement in strategic decision-making.\n\nNo personal fee targets.\n\nCompetitive salary commensurate with experience (no fixed pay bands).\n\nDiscretionary annual bonus scheme.\n\nFlexible working policy (37.5-hour week with core hours and early Friday finish).\n\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with additional office closure between Christmas and New Year.\n\nEmployer pension contribution (5% employer / minimum 3% employee).\n\nModern, centrally located office environment.\n\nGym membership benefit.\n\nComplimentary daily breakfast in the office.\n\nAccess to an Employee Assistance Programme (counselling, life coaching, wellbeing tools).\n\nCommitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, sustainability initiatives, and charitable partnerships.\n\nOngoing support for continuous professional development
